GORI, Antonio Francesco (1691-1757) - Dactyliotheca Smithiana. Venice: Giambattista Pasquali, 1767. A good copy in elegant binding of the first edition of this work dedicated to the collection of precious stones that belonged to the English Consul Smith, considered one of the most important art collectors of the eighteenth century. 2 volumes, folio (341 x 241mm). Engraved frontespiece, printer's device on titles, 100 plates mostly engraved by G.B. Brustolon in the first volume and 4 headpieces and initials also engraved by Brustolon, a full page engraved illustration in vol. II (occasional spotting, mostly marginal). Contemporary tree calf, spines elegantly decorated in gilt with green and red leather labels, yellow edges (weak joints and some light rubbing). Provenance: armorial bookplate. (2)
