Third edition of Ruscelli's Ptolemy, a reissue of the first edition of 1561 and the first edition to include Malombra's corrections and detailed information about map-making. The 65 maps are the same as those in the second edition and of the Latin edition of 1562, with the same irregular numbering. Among the most relevant maps are the one of Tierra Nueva with Tierra del Bacalaos and the ones of Brasil and Cuba. 3 parts in one volume, 4to (225 x 162mm). Printer's device on titles, numerous woodcut images and diagrams, large woodcut representing Ptolemy at the recto of the second leaf and repeated at the fourth, 65 engraved maps, woodcut headpieces and initials (some browning and spotting). Contemporary vellum with laces (small stains and tiny wormholes).
