PAUSANIA (110-180 d.C.) - Descrittione della Grecia. Mantua: Francesco Osanna, 1593. Rare first Italian translation by Alfonso Bonacciuoli of the famous geographical work of Pausania whose editio princeps was published by the heirs in 1516. . 4to (215 x 155mm). Title within elaborate woodcut border, woodcut headpieces and initials, variant C with printer's details without date as in SBN (title lightly stained, some staining to bottom margin in 2g3 and 2h2, some browning heavier at end, not uniform in gathering 3g, small staining at bottom corner of gathering 3h). Fine 18th-century vellum with title and printer's details in gilt on double spine label, speckled edges. Provenance: Don Carlo (?) Cattabeni in Mantova 1613 (ownership inscription on title); Fr. Gabriel Fabricy..1766 (ownership inscription on endpapers).
