LEGATI, Lorenzo - Museo Cospiano annesso a quello del famoso Ulisse Aldovrandi. Bologna: Giacomo Monti, 1677. A work that illustrates the wunderkammern of Ferdinando Cospi (1606-1686) papal legate and passionate collector who decided by will to leave his collection to the city university, linking it to the already substantial one of Aldovrandi. The objects described range from natural wonders to archaeological artefacts in which the "Cospi code" stands out, an Aztec manuscript now preserved in the Bologna library . Folio (310 x 210mm). Full-page portrait of Cospio, a folding plate depicting the museum, half-title, title-page printed in red and black with the coat of arm of "accademici gelati", woodcut portrait of Prince Ferdinand III Grand Duke of Tuscany in text, numerous illustrations in text, woodcut initials and headpieces (some spotting and browning). Contemporary vellum with manuscript title on spine (front cover partially detached, spine end chipped).
