Second edition, the first printed in 1598, of this important artillery treatise composed by the Cremonese Captain Capo Bianco. The chapters dedicated to fireworks are amusing and the more than 90 woodcut illustrations are of particular interest. Folio (339 x 235mm). Large woodcut vignette on title with the portrait of the author, numerous engraved woodcut illustrations and initials (some spotting on title, occasional browning). 18th-century marbled boards backed in leather with marbled and gilt decorations (extremities lightly rubbed).
