The eagerly awaited Modern and Contemporary Art auction of Il Ponte Casa d'Aste closed with a total turnover of € 5,222,250, 166% increase on value, about 90% of lots sold and 4 records set.

The packed halls and the numerous telephone bids from around the world (China, Thailand, Japan, Russia, Sweden, Luxembourg, Hungary, South America and the United States, Belgium, Canada, Austria, England, France, Germany are just some of the countries where the participation was       greatly felt) testify to the great interest aroused by the careful selection of the works in the catalogue.

Top lots of the sale: Pericle historic masterpiece by Giorgio de Chirico hammered down at € 587,500 (lot 78) and Cristo by Lucio Fontana at € 300,000 (lot 17).

Numerous significant awards, among which G.R. 359 by Mario De Luigi sold for € 50,000 (lot 35), the works of Antonio Calderara both for € 50,000 (lots 18 and 20) and a Natura Morta by Renato Paresce (lot 14) sold for € 42,500.

Alongside these are numerous artist records. Piero Manzoni is again the star with the record for Linea sold for € 137,500 (lot 45), followed by Mino Rosso who, with the bronze Elementi in Volo (lot 13), realized € 50,000, setting his best result for futurist sculpture and Tullio Pericoli with Orogenesi (lot 228,) sold for € 11,250. Carmelo Cappello, however, equaled his best result with L'uono nello spazio (lot 104) sold for € 37,500.

"The excellent results achieved are the confirmation that the strategy adopted is once again the winning one. The quality of the works in the catalogue has been rewarded and with it, the sensitivity that the market, at a national and international level, is showing towards artists too long forgotten as well as the uncommon works of remarkable masters ", commented the Director of department Freddy Battino.
